Hi Gang,
Greetings from beautiful suburban South Haven. The weather is yucky and we are all chained to our computers, watching dvd's of The Office and working on our emails. I am joining Tovey in saying goodbye to AOL. From now on, please send my emails to shirley.isenberg@gmail.com. I hope everyone is sufficiently recovered from the wedding by now and ready to begin all your summer activities. Stay safe and healthy. Love,
Mommy

I GOT AN "A" on my Jews of Iran paper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd like to thank the academy (Bernard Revel Grad School i mean...) and professor for the wonderful opportunity and grade.  And a special thanks to all my editors and proofreaders who made this all possible. And of course a special shoutout and "toddah rabbah" to my Ivrit tutor - for helping me get through this class. Yes, Ta, it's now safe to put away the pink book. hehe

Totally made my day. Just wanted to share and say THANKS!!!

P.O.L.Y.P. AND POLYP WAS ITS NAME OH.....

First a little clarification: A polyp is an abnormal growth of tissue projecting from a mucous membrane.

Ok, so I had one on my vocal chords, which means it needed to be removed. Now that it has been removed, through the wonderful miracles of science given to us by the RSO, and everything went well BH. I was charged with the seemingly difficult task of not talking for a week...(you think it's easy....you try not talking for a week)
Anyhoo, now that BH i am able to talk, and no longer on vocal rest, I was put on vocal restrictions until the 23rd. Well this should be fun, the way it works is starting with day 1, which was thursday I g0t 10 minutes to talk. And then the talk time doubles until Wednesday. (unfortunately roll-over minutes do not apply, I was very specific when I asked the surgeon that).
Oh and ironically enough, vocal rest still carries plenty of restrictions including but not limited to: no whispering, no talking loudly, no singing, no humming, no whistling, no caffeine, no spicy food, and no listening to music after 6pm.....ok i made the last one up but the rest are real.

So that's the dealio, I am writing because I have used my 40 minutes for the day....devora, lil' mo, and I had a great time with ya'll today!

Mazal Tov to the Ganze Mishpucha.....

How Many . . .

. . . professionals does it take to fix a not functioning air conditioner?

A: Apparently 3. Or, if you look at it another way, just one, if you know who to call the first time.

Last week (2 Shabbosos ago), our AC stopped working. This was a bad week for it to happen, 'cuz we had 90 degree weather just about every day. On Sun., Yosef checked outside and saw that the AC fan was not going at all. So he called our HVAC ppl. They made us an appt for Wed. B"H, Yosef was able to borrow a window unit, so we had a little bit of cool air circulating (in the dining room, anyway).

The boys chose to sleep in the basement since it was cooler there. (Funny thing -- they are still sleeping down there even though the AC is working. And after we spent all that money on a bunk bed, too!) The rest of us (excluding Shmuly who also had sleeping quarters in the basement), just slept in the sweltering humidity of the upper level.

Finally, Wed. came, and so did the HVAC guy. Unfortunately he couldn't fix the problem. For $99 he told us we need an electric guy -- the AC unit wasn't getting any power. So we called in the electrician. He said he couldn't come till Fri. Friday brought the electrician. For $100 he told us that he can't fix it -- it's a problem that the local electric company (BGE) would have to take care of. So, Yosef called in the BGE guy. B"H, he came the same day, fixed the problem, and didn't charge us anything for it!
